Girls teams from White Plains, Pleasant Valley won sectionals, Piedmont, Alexandria also advancing to substate

The girls teams from White Plains and Pleasant Valley both won titles and Piedmont qualified for sub-state after sectional golf championships Tuesday.
Pleasant Valley and Piedmont finished 1-2 in the 1A-3A sectional at Twin Bridges. PV won the sectional with a 298, led by Marlie Wright’s 94. Piedmont posted a 307, led by Mayce Chandler’s 100.
Elle Cothran of Arab was low medalist after firing a 6-under-par 66.
Piedmont also qualified Brookelyn Goss as an individual. The Bulldogs’ boys qualified for sub-state on Monday.
White Plains won the 4A-5A Section 3 title with a 251. Baylie Webb posted the Lady Wildcats’ low score (79). Alexandria qualified second at 259.
