County Tour set

With early dates confirmed, 2020 Calhoun County Tour schedule is set; events are scheduled every other week this season

With the early portion of the 2020 Calhoun County Golf Tour schedule being nailed down, the schedule for the season is set.
The Calhoun County Two-Man kicks off the 12-event county schedule April 4-5 at Silver Lakes. The Cane Creek Championship is confirmed for April 18-19 and the Oxford City Championship at Cider Ridge is May 2-3.
There are eight for-points events on the schedule, with the County Championship again counting 1.5 times points. Actually, the only date left to determine is the year-end Match Play Championship for the top 16 in the County Tour points standings.
If you look closely, a pattern emerges with tournaments every other week.
“I like the way the schedule is this year,” Tour director Jeremy McGatha said. “Nothing is back-to-back, and no Tour event directly after the Sunny King is good as well.
“It should benefit everyone the way the eight (points) events fell. Easter being on Masters weekend helped with scheduling, too.”
Once again, there is no additional fee to be part of the Tour; you play an event, you’re in. More than 350 players participated in Tour events last season.
There is no minimum number of events to be eligible for the Match Play Championship – it’s the top 16 straight up – but there is a minimum number of recorded rounds required to qualify for statistical prizes, which is the reason all players are encouraged to keep their greens, fairways and putts each round.
