OXFORD — It could be argued Oxford played its best defensive quarter of the season out of the gate – maybe even its best half – but the Lady Jackets couldn’t keep Albertville down all game and the Lady Aggies rallied in the second half for their 14thwin in a row, 58-43.

The upset-minded Lady Jackets kept Albertville off the board for nearly the first four minutes of the game, scored the first nine points and opened a 16-6 lead early in the second quarter. The Lady Aggies converted four straight Oxford turnovers into seven points to get back in the game and tied it at 18 and led 24-20 with 1:40 left in the half, but Oxford scored the last seven points of the quarter to take a 27-24 halftime lead.

Lisa Montgomery gave the Lady Jackets a 31-29 leada with 4:45 left in the third, but then Savannah Rutledge hit a 3-pointer to give Albertville the lead and touch off a 13-0 run to the end of the quarter that gave the Lady Aggies control of the game. They outscored Oxford 18-4 in the quarter.

Rutledge, who picked up two foul early in the game, scored all 21 of her points in the middle two quarters to key the Lady Aggies’ comeback. Hannah Sanders scored 12 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter to help them close it out, going 6-for-8 from the foul line.

Ashleigh Jackson led Oxford with 12 points. She scored six in the fourth quarter.
