FAIRVIEW –
White Plains junior Jake Moore ran his fastest time ever, 16:42.77, to help the Wildcats win the 1A-4A cross country race in the Fairview Invitational Saturday.

MOORE

Moore was the fastest runner in the entire boys field as he continues his quest to break 16 minutes by the end of the season and tenths-of-a-second shy of the fastest time in Class 4A this season. It was his second individual win of the year, having opened the season by winning the rain-soaked White Plains Twilight Invite on his home course.

Anniston’s Christian Myles was second in the boys 1A-4A race (17:16.88), the fourth fastest in the field.

White Plains had four of the top six points counters in the 1A-4A race and scored 37 points to run away with the team title. The Wildcats would have won the overall title if the 1A-4A and 5A-7A results were combined. They areundefeated in five races in their classification this season.

White Plains finished third in the 1A-4A girls race behind winner Ashville and runner-up JB Pennington. Savannah Yates (22:11.79) and Camden Wilson (22:22.29) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, while Adriana Sotelo and Anna Strickland also finished in the top 20.

Jacksonville’s King Olivia was the fastest county girl, finishing third in 21:17.58. The Lady Golden Eagles finished sixth as a team.

PV girls win Titan Trail

GADSDEN – Pleasant Valley placed three runners in the top 10, all five counters in the top 15 and its first seven in the top 20 to edge Southside and Albertville for the Titan Trail girls title.

The secret to PV’s success was the bunching. Camryn Davis led a 1-3 Southside finish and the Lady Panthers had three counters in the top seven, but Pleasant Valley’s Eva Bryant, Trinity Roberts and Emma Hood came in 5-6-8 and Gracie Hood and Macey Roper followed at 12 and 13 to give the Lady Raiders 44 points, six better than Southside.

Alexandria’s Michaela Watts was the fastest county girl, finishing fourth in 24:03.23. The Lady Cubs were fourth as a team.

Pleasant Valley’s boys finished third behind Southside and Albertville. PV’s Cayden Nelson was the fastest county with a fourth-place 19:08.53

“The boys got third behind two very good big schools,” PV coach Brad Hood said. “The girls amazingly beat two very good teams to win.”
