Archer makes cut at State Am

KILLEN – Anniston’s Logan Archer starts today’s third round of the 103rd State Amateur tied for tenth, seven shots off the lead, after posting a 2-over-par 73 on Friday. The round left him at even par 143 for the championship. He tees off a 8:36 this morning.

Tournament officials turned the sixth hole at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club into a par-3 Friday because of the wet conditions. Archer birdied the hole, one of four birdies he made in the round.

Two other Anniston players in the field, Layton Bussey and Andrew Miller, both had better rounds than the day before, but both missed the cut. Both shot 74 on Friday.

Trent Alexander of Athens goes into the round with a one-shot lead over Will McFadden of Mobile.
