Cole tops Gadsden qualifying

GADSDEN – Ty Cole shot 5-under-par 66 and opened a three-shot lead after championship flight qualifying Friday in the Gadsden Country Club Invitational. Gary Wigington is second (69), and Joey Fortner third (70). They make up the first game of the day Saturday at 8 a.m. Chad Calvert double bogeyed his final hole and shot even par 71, dropping into a tie for fourth with Hunter Hawkins.
