Road to Birmingham

Four more Calhoun County teams advanced to the AHSAA regional volleyball tournament through area tournaments Tuesday night, giving the county 10 total later this week in Huntsville and Montgomery.

Faith Christian and Jacksonville advanced as area champions Tuesday night; Donoho and White Plains advanced as area runner-ups.

On Monday, Pleasant Valley and Saks advanced as area champions; Ohatchee and Oxford advanced as area runner-ups. Alexandria and Wellborn were guaranteed spots as No. 1 seeds in three-teams areas, but both lost in area championship matches.

All areas involving county teams except Class 3A Area 8 (Saks, Wellborn) are headed to the Huntsville regional (VonBraun Center). The 3A-8 qualifiers go to Montgomery (Cramton Bowl Multiplex).
