Calhoun County has teams in each of those spots in their respective rankings this week

By East Alabama Sports Today

Calhoun County has teams ranked 1, 2 and 3 in their respective classifications in this week’s high school football poll, producing some pretty interesting games Friday night.

Saks remains No. 1 in Class 3A and will host No. 3 Randolph County for the Region 6 title. It’ll be the first meeting between the teams since 1963.

Ohatchee is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A and will host No. 10 Ranburne for the Region 6 title. It’s the Indians’ highest ranking since pulling down a No. 2 in 2A Sept. 28, 1988. They have been No. 1 only once (Sept. 12, 1961).

Jacksonville is ranked No. 3 in Class 4A. The Golden Eagles are looking to stay the course for a matchup at No. 2 Hokes Bluff next week for their region title. The Golden Eagles have never been ranked No. 1.

Meanwhile, Piedmont is No. 5 in Class 3A and Oxford is No. 6 in Class 6A.

Oxford travels to No. 4 Clay Chalkville for a game that will determine a first-round home game in the playoffs.

Alexandria is unranked, but the Valley Cubs host No. 2 Etowah.
