Entries are now open for the Calhoun County Championship, Buddy Moore Tournament, Dub Ellis Invitational; spots will go fast

The day after the Sunny King Charity Classic means one thing – the run to the Calhoun County Championship and the Buddy Moore Tournament is on.

Both events at Anniston Municipal are expected to fill quickly and the Monday after the SKCC is the day Matt Rogers usually starts taking entries for them.

The 82nd County Championship is Aug. 11-12. Entry fee is $120 for 36 holes of stroke play with 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. shotgun starts each day.

The 10th Buddy Moore Two-Man Scramble is Aug. 25-26. Entry fee is $125 per player/$250 per team. The event has raised more than $90,000 since its inception and 100 percent of the funds stays 100 percent local.

Rogers prefers all registration inquiries be made via text (453-0206).

Also, the Pine Hill Invitational is this weekend. Call that pro shop (237-2633) to grab a spot.

CENTRE’S STAGE: Cherokee County Country Club’s Dub Ellis Invitational is July 28-29. Entry fee is $125 for non-members. Tee times start at 8 a.m. Ty Cole is the defending champion.

The course also is hosting a four-man scramble to benefit the Gaylesville High School softball team, coached by the club’s tournament director Steve Baker, July 21. Entry fee is $65 per player/$260 per team. The event starts at 9 a.m. and lunch will be served.
