Oxford, Pleasant Valley and Alexandria all clinch area tournament titles; reported scores below

OXFORD – Ashleigh Reaves tied the game with a seventh-inning single and then delivered a two-run single in the eighth to cap a three-run rally that lifted Oxford to a wild 10-7 victory over Pell City for the Class 6A Area 10 tournament championship.

It was a true back-and-forth battle. Oxford opened the scoring on Emily Thrasher’s two-run single in the first, Pell City took a 3-2 lead in the third and the Lady Jackets tied it on Sarah Howell’s RBI single in the fourth.

Pell City erased a 6-3 Oxford lead with four in the sixth, but the Lady Jackets tied the game in the seventh on Reaves’ triple.

The Lady Jackets pounded 18 hits in the game. Every batter in their lineup had at least one and seven had at least two. Ashlyn Miller had three hits.

Pleasant Valley 12, Glencoe 1: Cortney Williams and Mikayla Kendrick both homered and three PV pitchers held Glencoe to one hit after Breia Little’s leadoff homer to win the Class 3A Area 10 tournament.

Every starter had at least one hit. Williams hit a two-run homer in the second to put the Lady Raiders ahead for good. Kendrick hit a three-run homer in the seventh. In between the Lady Raiders pounded 12 hits. Tournament MVP Savannah Williams went 3-for-4 in the game.

The Lady Raiders (33-15) swept through their tournament by outscoring their opponents 22-1 and outhitting them 32-3. They play Oakman in their regional opener next Friday at noon.

Alexandria 11, Douglas 0: Maggie Phillips pitched a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and went 2-for-2 with three RBIs as the Lady Cubs crushed to the Class 5A Area 13 tournament title.

The Lady Cubs won their three games by a combined 41-2 and outhit their opponents 33-6.

Phillips and Emmah Rolfe were among five Lady Cubs with two hits in the game. Millie Burt, Leighton Sparks and Lanie Dreyer also had a pair of hits in the game. Rolfe went 6-for-9 in the series, 5-for-5 with seven RBIs the last two games.
