PELL CITY – Oxford locked up the No. 1 seed in its area tournament for at least the seventh straight year Monday when it swept Pell City 3-0, winning games by 25-22, 25-21 and 25-11.

Shania Vincent, a middle hitter playing only her second year of volleyball, gave the Lady Jackets (10-16, 4-0 Class 6A Area 13) some strong play at the net. She hit well, saw holes on the floor and read the opposing hitter well to set up the block. She had six kills and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Makayla Kidd had 14 digs, five aces and six kills; and Emma Connell had three kills, two aces, eight digs and 17 assists. Alex Gomez had four kills and 17 digs, Alex Hammond had 13 digs and Deinnah Isaac had 12 digs.

Faith Christian 3, Ranburne 0 (25-15, 25-13, 15-13). The Lady Lions improved to 20-6. They host Saks Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a match that will emotionally justify the 5 (Saks) and 6 (Faith) seeds in the upcoming Calhoun County Tournament.

Saks swept Anniston for the second time in four days Monday, 3-0.
