Ragland beats rain, splits

Rain played havoc with most of the high school baseball playoff series Friday, forcing many of them to wrap up or start Saturday. Ragland was one of the teams that was able to play and the Purple Devils split their doubleheader with Millry, winning the first game 4-3 and dropping the nightcap 5-1.

Jeremy Burnham pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts in the opener and also delivered a pair of hits at the plate. Noah Hollingsworth had three hits and Coby Fuller and Taylor Seawright had two apiece. The second game was tied at 1 when Millry scored four runs in the fifth inning on only two hits.

The series winner meets Sweet Water, which took a 4-3, 13-inning thriller in Game 2 to sweep Brantley.
