Thursday softball: Lincoln wins on Senior Night, Alexandria’s Shaw drives in six runs, Sand Rock jumps on Piedmont

LINCOLN — Sixth-ranked Lincoln paid homage to its six senior softball players Thursday night and three of them had big games in a 10-0, five-inning victory over Pell City.

Savanna Sands went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and pitched five innings of shutout ball to get the win. She allowed five hits and struck out two.

Carlee Mullinax, who recently delivered her 300th career hit, went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Taylor Houck went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.

The Lady Bears’ other seniors were Kamryn Beasley, Victoria Sands and Dana Snider.

Stay Curry added two hits and scored three runs.

Oxford will recognize their seniors Friday night during a 5 p.m. regular-season finale against Moody.

Alexandria 19, Pleasant Valley 4: Jessica Shaw homered twice and drove to lead the third-ranked Lady Cubs’ 17-hit attack. The Lady Cubs broke open the game with an 11-run sixth inning.

Madi Snow had three hits and two RBIs, Ashley Phillips had two hits and three RBIs, and Timberlyn Shurbutt and Mattie Wade both had two hits and two RBIs.

The Lady Cubs sent 16 batters to the plate in their big inning. Shaw had a three-run double. Shurbutt and Wade had two-run singles. Shaw hit a two-run homer in the first and a solo homer in the third.

Sand Rock 11, Piedmont 4: The Lady Wildcats sent 14 batters to the plate and moved runners one base at a time in an eight-run first inning.

Brylie St. Clair, Paige Norris, Haley Lisenbee and Cara Parker all had two hits for Sand Rock. Erin Langley hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and finished with three RBIs.

Kayleigh Williams homered for Piedmont.
