Both Cleburne County teams, Clay Central boys win to reach tournament finals

LINEVILLE – Cleburne County erupted for 23 points in the fourth quarter and held game-high scorer Tyus Ford scoreless to pull out a 69-55 victory over Horseshoe Bend in the Tri-County Tournament at Central of Clay County.

Stashun Henson scored nine of his team-high 27 in the Tigers’ 23-4 fourth quarter.

Horseshoe Bend’s Tyus Ford led all scorers with 30 points, but the Tigers held him scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Clay Central 71, Ranburne 54

The Volunteers hit all five of their 3-pointers in the first half to open a big lead and maintained it by hitting 16 of 19 free throws in the game to reach the championship game.

Camerun Peoples led three Volunteers in double figures with 16 points Joe Bullock scored all 13 of his points and Davyn Flenord scored 13 of his 15 in the first half.

Devon Chambers and Jake Burson led Ranburne with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Burson scored all his points in the fourth quarter.

GIRLS GAME

Cleburne County 55, Clay Central 21

Shawntavia Boyd scored 23 points and Erykah Ware played a strong all-around game as the Lady Tigers (15-4) advanced to play Ranburne tonight for the championship.

Ware scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, had six steals and seven assists. Boyd scored 16 of her points in the second half. Kiara Ackles scored four points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
