Faith Christian goes 4-1 at West End, Pleasant Valley goes 2-3 in Blalock, J’ville wins in Guntersville; available area tournament pairings

Faith Christian went 4-1 in the West End Tournament Saturday, sweeping through its pool, before falling to Boaz 25-16, 25-13.
The Lady Lions beat Ohatchee (25-17, 25-20), West End (25-19, 25-10), Spring Garden (26-24, 25-6) and Etowah (25-22, 25-12) in pool play.
Cornelia Simpson had 23 kills, nine aces and 26 digs for the Lady Lions (25-17), the No. 3 seed in their Oct. 17 area tournament. Abby Emerson scored 16 aces and had 23 assists. Morgan Robinette had 15 kills and 10 blocks. Nicole Frechette had 26 kills and 26 digs. Abby Kazanjian had 31 digs.
“I thought it was a great team day,” Faith coach Bradley Dawson said. “It was pretty even across the board. We got contributions from all 11 girls. Everyone had a stat of some sort. A good team effort.”
Jacksonville wins at Guntersville
GUNTERSVILLE — Behind strong games from Reagan Stallings, county tournament MVP Sierra Stone and Elizabeth Poe, Jacksonville went 2-1 and won the Chic-fil-A Guntersville Quad Match.
The Lady Golden Eagles (32-9) defeated Albertville 3-1 and Good Hope 3-0 and lost to Guntersville 3-2.
Pleasant Valley in Blalock Tournament
HOMEWOOD – The Lady Raiders went 2-3, losing to Vestavia in their first elimination round match.
They split Friday night, beating St. John Paul 2-0 (25-21, 25-21) and lost to Huntsville 2-0 (27-25, 25-20), then on Saturday beat Austin 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) before struggling in losses to Hoover 25-16, 25-13 and Vestavia 25-16, 25-16.
