TALLADEGA – Colby Nunn and Tyrese Sheppard each scored two touchdowns and the Wadley defense scored a pair of safeties on the way to beating Talladega County Central 36-20 Friday night.

It was the first of three straight road games for the Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0), one of only two remaining undefeated teams in Class 1A Region 4 play.

“This was a great area win for the Bulldogs,” Wadley coach Ken Fordham said. “Tonight’s game was a good test on the road for this team. We’re looking forward to another good game at Ragland next week.”

The Bulldogs never trailed, although TCC got within 21-20 with 9:47 left in the third quarter. Nunn scored his second touchdown later in the quarter and Wadley pulled away in the final four minutes of the game on Connor Fordham’s safety and touchdown with 30 seconds left.

Nunn finished with 124 yards rushing on 17 carries. Sheppard carried 13 times for 60 yards. Fordham completed nine of 11 passes for 104 yards and Quae Drake caught six passes for 73 yards.
