Oxford left-hander headed home from ‘greatest baseball experience’ with silver medal

Dawson Campbell was heading back to Oxford tonight, tired from a busy week and with a silver medal around his neck.
Campbell was part of the USA Baseball 12U National Team that reached the gold medal game in the COPABE Pan Am A Championships in Puebla, Mexico.
A seven-run fifth inning proved to be the difference in their 10-3 loss Sunday. Campbell got into the game late as an outfielder.
“It’s been an incredible experience, probably the greatest baseball experience of my life, to this point,” Campbell said on the ride home. “We wish we could have won the gold medal, but winning the silver medal is a great accomplishment. It gives me the drive to work towards making the 15U team and bringing home the gold medal.”
Team USA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the gold medal game and extended it to 3-0 in the third.
Mexico tied it in the third with three runs on just one hit.
Team USA went 7-2 in the tournament with both losses coming to Mexico.
