Green, Ford go fast

Piedmont runner wins 4, Oxford sprinter wins 2, Ohatchee sets 4 school records in Fort Payne meet

FORT PAYNE – Piedmont’s Karri Green won four events, Oxford’s Laquavious Ford won both boys sprints and Ohatchee set four school records in Saturday’s Northeast Alabama Invitational.

Green won the 200 (25.88), 400 (58.54), 100 hurdles (14.86) and 300 hurdles (48.39) leading the Lady Bulldogs to a third-place finish in the girls team standings. Teammate Megan Mohon won the pole vault (8-6)

Oxford’s girls 4×100 relay team of Brooklyn Chatman, Sierra Davis, Shania Vincent and Cayla Williams won in 50.97. Vincent also finished second in the 100 (13.052) and Davis was second in the shot (31-2). The team placed sixth.

Ford won the 100 (10.92) and 200 (22.32) as the Yellow Jackets finished fifth in the boys standings. Teammate Luke Thomas won the 3200 (11:23.66) and finished second in the 1600 (4:59.65). and the 4×100 relay team of Latravous Franks, Bralan Gadson, Ronnie Isaac and Justin Smith won in 45.42.

Piedmont finished second in the boys team standings, with Wil Mitchell winning the pole vault (12-3) and Krae Keener winning the shot put (45-0).

Austin Snelling led the Ohatchee record-setters when he won the boys discus with a throw of 127-6. The Indians also set school records in the boys pole vault (Tyler Hester 8-0), boys 100 (Cam McCombs 12.42) and girls 4×400 relay (4:50.47 — Victoria McRaney, Jayda Fair, Ally McCoy and Kourtney Shuler).

McRaney (13:51.43) and Gabe Hammonds (11:29.67) both finished third in their respective 3200 meter races.

The Ohatchee girls finished ninth, while the boys were seventh.
