Piedmont rallies in seventh to beat Glencoe; Faith eighth-grader checks Winterboro; Weaver softball uses big inning to win

PIEDMONT — Easton Kirk singled home Deven Hincy with none out in the seventh inning to cap a two-run rally that lifted Piedmont over Glencoe 3-2 Monday night.

The Bulldogs went into the home seventh down 2-1 after Glencoe scored two in the top of the inning, but all five hitters that faced reliever Paul Hicks in the inning reached base.

Michael Rogers and Hincy got it started with a single and walk. Bayley Blanchard singled to load the bases, Caleb Morrow singled to tie the game and Kirk followed with his game-winning hit.

Blanchard, Morrow and Kirk all had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Kirk pitched six shutout innings and struck out 10. Mason Mohon was the recipient of the rally after giving up the two runs in the seventh.

BASEBALL: Jack Sills went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and eighth-grader Riley Camp struck out eight in six innings as Faith Christian beat Winterboro 11-1 Monday. Michael Kulick had three RBIs and Caleb McCord went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases. The Lions are 4-5.

SOFTBALL: Seventh-grader Alexis Callahan, Macie Baker, Rayne Beck and eighth-grader Loralei Brown all drove in runs in a five-run fifth inning that powered Weaver to a 6-3 win over Glencoe. Brown, Beck and Callahan all had two hits in the game. Mariah Thompson struck out in a complete-game victory.

Saks defeated Wellborn, 3-1.
