Boys roundup: Donoho, Ohatchee both fall in area tournaments to teams that have big fourth quarters

Roberto Hernandez scored all 11 of his points in the first half and Peyton Dean scored 17 of his 25 in the fourth quarter as Appalachian got past Donoho 62-46 Tuesday in the Class 1A Area 12 boys play-in game at Miller Gym.
Appalachian now plays top-seeded and top-ranked Sacred Heart Thursday at 5 p.m. The Cardinals have scored more than 100 points in both regular-season meetings against Appalachian (107-50, 108-45) this year.
Mitchell Baker and Robert Clausen each had 12 for Donoho. Baker scored nine of his points in the fourth quarter.
Glencoe 70, Ohatchee 62: The Yellow Jackets went 12 of 15 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Indians in the Class 3A Area 11 tournament.
Glencoe now plays Westbrook Christian for the area championship. The two teams will crossover with the top two teams from the area that includes Piedmont, Weaver, Wellborn and Pleasant Valley.
Austin Tucker led Ohatchee with 22 points. Micah Lee had 14 points and Ben Glass added 12.
