Anniston keeps it close, but drops opener at Spain Park

By East Alabama Sports Today

HOOVER — Tray Croft started the new basketball season strong, hitting four 3-pointers and scoring 20 points, but Anniston just couldn’t overcome Spain Park and dropped its season opener 63-59.

Croft also had five steals.

Marrio Dobbins added nine points for the Bulldogs. Davion Tippins had eight points and 10 rebounds, Hakeem Ross had eight points and DeQuan Ross had seven points and eight rebounds.

“I thought it went well,” Anniston coach Schuessler Ware said. “There was a lot of hype building up to this game. We didn’t know what to expect.”

The Bulldogs return to action Monday at Parker.
