2 Blue Dolphins qualify for AHSAA meet

Renfroe qualifies for high school sectionals for first time, Balma hits mark in fourth event

Two Anniston YMCA Blue Dolphins swimmers posted state high school sectional qualifying times in the Monster Mash at Birmingham this past weekend.
Lucia Balma continued her early season success and qualified in her fourth freestyle event when she met the mark in the 200 freestyle. She will have to choose among them which ones to enter in the AHSAA meet.
Oxford sophomore Dylan Renfroe, meanwhile, made his first sectional qualifying time in the 50 freestyle.
In age group events, Susan Tiffner won all four 8-and-under events she entered with personal bests — 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, 25 breastroke and 50 freestyle; Margaret Tiffner won one event and finished second in three others while achieving three Southeastern bonus qualifying times in the 50 butterfly, 100 freestyle, and 50 backstroke; Molly Tiffner won the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle with personal bests; and Anna Tiffner had wins in the 50 backstroke and 100 freestyle.
Completing a strong performance in the longer events, YBD went 1 through 4 in the 11-12 girls 100-yard freestyle with Anna Tiffner, Molly Tiffner, Emma Levesque and Nancy Brock.

8 and Under
Mya Pearson – 8th 25 Freestyle, 7th 25 Butterfly.
Susan Tiffner – 1st 25 Freestyle, 1st 25 Breastroke, 1st 25 Backstroke, 1st 50 Freestyle.
9-10
Margaret Tiffner – 1st 50 Butterfly, 2nd 50 Backstroke, 2nd 50 Freestyle, 2nd 100 Freestyle.
11-12
Anna Tiffner – 1st 50 Backstroke, 3rd 50 Breastroke, 2nd 50 Butterfly, 1st 100 Freestyle.
Molly Tiffner – 1st 50 Freestyle, 1st 50 Butterfly, 2nd 50 Backstroke, 2nd 100 Freestyle.
13-and-Over
Lucia Balma – 8th 100 Freestyle, 5th 200 Freestyle.
Colton Smith – 7th 100 Freestyle, 3rd 100 Breastroke, 5th 100 Butterfly, 4th 200 Freestyle.
Dylan Renfroe – 5th 100 Breastroke, 7th 100 Backstroke.
Trevor Perry – 7th 100 Breastroke, 6th 100 Backstroke.
