Ohatchee runs to third win

Sellers rushes for 177 yards, Eubanks scores 3 touchdowns as Indians win three in a season for first time since 2011

By East Alabama Sports Today

OHATCHEE – Jesse Sellers rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns and Taylor Eubanks had three first-half scores as Ohatchee crushed Pleasant Valley 49-14 to earn its third win of the season for the first time since 2011.

The Indians were 3-7 the last time they won at least three in a season and got that third victory in the fourth game of the season. They haven’t won four since going 5-5 in 2007.

The 49 points are the most Ohatchee has scored in coach Scott Martin’s two seasons. The Indians scored at least 42 points in all three of their victories this year.

“Winning three in one year is nice, but our focus is on our next opponent – a very good Wellborn team,” Martin said. “We can look back on accomplishments after the season is over.”

The Indians (3-5, 2-4), who snapped a five-game losing streak to the Raiders and a three-game overall slide, rushed for 476 yards as a team. Their defense held PV to 180 yards of offense, a big chunk of it on one play in the fourth quarter.

“I’m proud of how our players handled the adversity of fall break and being out of school all week,” Martin said. “It’s easy to lose focus and get sidetracked on other things, but that wasn’t the case this week. We had a great week of practice and we were very efficient as a team.”

Reagan King rushed for 75 yards for Pleasant Valley (0-8, 0-6), most of it coming on a 70-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Josh Preston and Ethan Borders combined for 75 yards rushing on 24 combined carries.
