Showdown at Silver Lakes

[corner-ad id=2]ACC, Silver Lakes battle in winner-take-all match for EA Sports Today Cup title

By East Alabama Sports Today

If the team from Silver Lakes can defend its home turf Friday — the way most of the teams have throughout the competition – it will win the inaugural EA Sports Today Cup.

The teams from Silver Lakes and Anniston Country Club will battle at the Robert Trent Jones Trail course in the championship match of the season-long four-team intraclub championship.

Silver Lakes goes into the winner-takes-all final as the No. 1 seed after beating ACC 10-5 in the final regular-season match last month at Cane Creek.

“We look forward to a competitive match with them and my guys are excited and ready to play,” Silver Lakes pro Brennan Clay said.

Three of Silver Lakes’ teams are together again in the finals match. Clay and Steve Bailey scored three points in the match, Bobby Luttrell and Alan Darnall scored 2.5 and Ted Klimasewski and Tim MacTaggart halved their match.

John Lindsey and Ryan Abernathy return as a pair for ACC. They scored three points in the first meeting.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to take home the inaugural Cup,” ACC pro Jake Spott said. “It’s going to be really tough not having the advantage Silver Lakes has, but we are a team of competitors and plan to give them a fight.”

Here are the championship match pairings.
