SPRINGVILLE — Virginia Poe and Quenteeria Mooney both scored twice and Matti Lowery recorded 10 saves as third-ranked Jacksonville blanked Springville 5-0 in the opening round of the Class 4A-5A girls soccer playoffs.
The teams played Friday in hopes to beating Saturday’s anticipated inclement weather.
Brooklyn Hosch scored the Lady Golden Eagles’ other goal. Cindee Tang had two assists, while Virginia Poe and Ashton Wells each had one.
The Lady Golden Eagles will meet the winner of today’s Guntersville-Moody game in the Sweet 16.
In the Class 6A boys opening round, Oxford was shutout by Opelika 4-0.
