Donoho sweeps Anniston

Jenkins, Baker score hat tricks in their respective victories

By East Alabama Sports Today

Sonny Jenkins put on a scoring show Thursday, scoring all three goals in Donoho’s 3-1 victory over Anniston. It was the Falcons’ second win of the week.

Gracie Love and Emma Burke Owsley recorded assists on two of Jenkins’ goals.

The Falcons return to action Monday against Sacred Heart at the McClellan soccer complex in a match with area implications.

Mitchell Baker scored three goals to help the Falcons rally from an early deficit to win their season-best third in a row.

Anniston scored the first goal early in the first half.

Ameen Salame created a penalty kick and Baker deposited it in the back of the net to get the Falcons (5-3) going.

Baker’s second goal came on a long ball from Trey Rigsby and he converted what coach Matthew Wright called one of Schuyler Buckner’s best passes of the season for his third goal.

Noah Wright played a beastly backspin chip through the defense to a sprinting Tej Patel, who beat two defenders and the Bulldogs’ keeper to close the scoring.
