4 County teams crack polls

Both Alexandria teams, Pleasant Valley, White Plains softball all recognized

Both Alexandria teams and the softball teams from Pleasant Valley and White Plains are ranked in the top 10s of their respective classifications in this week’s statewide polls.

Alexandria is the lone county team in the baseball poll, maintaining its No. 4 ranking in Class 5A.

Alexandria’s softball team cracked the top 10 in 5A with a No. 8 ranking, while White Plains was ranked No. 7 in Class 4A and Pleasant Valley remained in the 3A poll at No. 9.

“That’s a big change for us just getting in,” Alexandria softball coach Brian Hess said. “We’ve been on the outside looking in for the last couple weeks. That’s big for our program, especially going 5A.”

In the Eurosport Scoreboard statewide prep soccer polls, the Faith Christian boys are No. 9 in Class 1A-3A, while the Jacksonville girls are No. 3 in 4A-5A.
