Tiffner has big weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Anniston YMCA Blue Dolphins swim team enjoyed a big weekend at the Southeastern Championships, and it was a breakout weekend for Molly Tiffner.
Tiffner added three individual top 10s to the one she had Friday, qualified for the Eastern Sectionals in three more events and was part of a 10-and-under girls 200 medley relay team that finished ninth, 5.5 seconds faster than its previous best.
Individually, she finished fifth in the 100 backstroke, seventh in the 50 butterfly and ninth in the 100 butterfly. She was sixth in the 50 backstroke Friday night.
“Molly demonstrates what happens when you work hard every day,” Blue Dolphins assistant coach Johnnie Pearson said. “She shows a tremendous amount of focus and intensity for such a young athlete; that’s why she has gotten where she is.”
