UPDATED: Here’s a quick look at the four finalists in each classification of the boys and girls state championship round at the BJCC

GIRLS

CLASS 1A
Monday, 9:00 a.m. — Central Qualifier No. 6 Keith (26-5) vs. NW Qualifier No. 5 Decatur Heritage (23-5)
Monday, noon — South Qualifier No. 1 Brantley (27-2) vs. NE Qualifier No. 4 Spring Garden (32-2)
Thursday, 4:00 p.m. — Girls 1A State Championship

First poll: Brantley No. 1; Decatur Heritage No. 2; Spring Garden No. 5; Keith No. 6
Last year: Brantley – State champions; none of the others made the final four

CLASS 2A
Monday, 3:00 p.m. — Central Qualifier Holy Spirit (24-2) vs. NW Qualifier No. 5 Red Bay (23-9)
Monday, 6:00 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 8 Geneva County (23-8) vs. NE Qualifier No. 7 Section (22-6)
Friday, 9:00 a.m. — Girls 2A State Championship

First poll: Red Bay No. 1; Section No. 7; Geneva received voter consideration
Last year: Red Bay lost in 2A finals to Woodland, 65-52; none of the others made the final four.
Note: Holy Spirit was not ranked in the Top 10 all year

CLASS 3A
Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. — Central Qualifier No. 10 Montgomery Academy (25-6) vs. NW Qualifier No. 1 Lauderdale County (37-0)
Tuesday, noon — South Qualifier Barbour County (19-9) vs. NE Qualifier No. 6 Pisgah (27-6)
Friday, 1:00 p.m. — Girls 3A State Championship

First poll: Lauderdale County No. 1; Plainview No. 10; Pisgah received voter consideration
Last year: Lauderdale County – State champions; none of the others made the final four
Notes: Lauderdale County won its 82nd straight game, a 60-56 OT thriller against Madison Academy in the NW final … Barbour County did receive consideration for votes in the final poll

CLASS 4A
Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. — Central Qualifier No. 7 Sipsey Valley (30-4) vs. NW Qualifier No. 1 Deshler(30-2)
Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 3 UMS-Wright (24-9) vs. NE Qualifier No. 2 Jacksonville (28-4)
Friday, 5:00 p.m. — Girls 4A State Championship

First poll: Deshler No. 3; Jacksonville No. 4; UMS-Wright No. 5
Last year: None of the teams were in the final four last year; Oneonta won it, eliminated this year by Jacksonville.

CLASS 5A
Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. — Central Qualifier Talladega (21-9) vs. NW Qualifier No. 1 Wenonah (28-3)
Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 8 Brewbaker Tech (24-4) vs. NE Qualifier No. 6 Anniston (27-8)
Saturday, 9:00 a.m. — Girls 5A State Championship

First poll: Wenonah No. 1; Anniston No. 6; Brewbaker Tech No. 8
Last year: Wenonah defending 5A champions as it defeated Sylacauga 57-46. Anniston lost in 4A semi to Calera, 45-44

CLASS 6A

Wednesday, noon — South Qualifier Blount (17-8) vs. NE Qualifier No. 5 Shades Valley (21-7)
Saturday, 1:00 p.m. — Girls 6A State Championship

First poll: Homewood No. 1; Austin No. 4; Shades Valley No. 5
Last year: Sparkman defeated Blount in 6A semifinal 56-45 before losing to Shades Valley 63-49. No other team in a final last year
Note: Defending state champion Shades Valley was not ranked but among teams receiving consideration in final poll

CLASS 7A
Thursday, 9:00 a.m. — Central Qualifier No. 2 Jeff Davis (28-4) vs. NW Qualifier No. 3 Hazel Green (29-5)
Thursday, noon — South Qualifier No. 8 McGill Toolen (30-4) vs. NE Qualifier No. 1 Huntsville (32-3)
Saturday, 5:00 p.m. — Girls 7A State Championship

First poll: Huntsville No. 2; McGill-Toolen No. 3; Hazel Green No. 4; Jeff Davis No. 6
Note: Jeff Davis lost in last year 6A semifinal to Shades Valley; none of the others were in a final four last year.

Monday, 1:30 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 10 A.L. Johnson (14-4) vs. NE Qualifier No. 4 Sacred Heart (24-8)
Thursday, 6:00 p.m. — Boys 1A State Championship

First poll: Sunshine No. 1; Sacred Heart No. 2
Last year: Both Sunshine & Sacred Heart were beaten in semis – St. Jude’s 66 SH 51; Eventual champ Parrish 65 Sunshine 37

CLASS 2A
Monday, 4:30 p.m. — Central Qualifier No. 9 Lafayette (23-5) vs. NW Qualifier Tanner (13-13)
Monday, 7:30 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 7 Elba (20-6) vs. NE Qualifier No. 10 Vincent (22-9)
Friday, 11:00 a.m. — Boys 2A State Championship

First poll: Vincent No. 1; Elba No. 5; Tanner No. 8
Last year: 2A champions Elba defeated Elba 61-51 in finals.

CLASS 3A
Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. — Central Qualifier Montgomery Academy (21-8) vs. NW Qualifier No. 2 Madison Academy (16-12)
Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. — South Qualifier Excel (21-6) vs. NE Qualifier Piedmont (22-11)
Friday, 3:00 p.m. — Boys 3A State Championship

First poll: Midfield No. 1; Madison Academy No. 2
Last year: Midfield put out Saks in the semis 64-51 before claiming title over Barbour Co. 62-40; Madison Academy lost in semi to Barbour 43-40
Notes: Madison Academy record so bad due to playing so many games without 6-6 3-time 3A Player of the Year Josh Langford who surgery on a finger after an injury early in this season.

CLASS 4A
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. — Central Qualifier No. 6 Bibb County (26-9) vs. NW Qualifier No. 4 West Limestone (30-3)
Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. — South Qualifier Straughn (21-8) vs. NE Qualifier Westminster Christian (21-11)
Friday, 7:00 p.m. — Boys 4A State Championship

First poll: West Limestone No. 4, none of the other three received consideration
Last year: None were in the final four. All final four teams are in 5A – Madison County, Dallas Co., Wilcox Central, J.O. Johnson

CLASS 5A
Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. — Central Qualifier No. 4 Dallas County (24-5) vs. NW Qualifier No. 5 Ramsay (28-5)
Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 1 Faith-Mobile (34-1) vs. NE Qualifier J.O. Johnson (30-4)
Saturday, 11:00 a.m. — Boys 5A State Championship

First poll: Ramsay No. 1; Faith No. 2; J.O. Johnson No. 3; Dallas County No. 8
Last year: Ramsay lost in 5A finals to Parker 56-46. Faith-Mobile fell to Parker in the semifinal 47-30. Dallas County was the 4A champion; it defeated Madison County 53-52 in semifinal OT thriller and then clinched 4A title over J.O. Johnson 51-48.

CLASS 6A
Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. — Central Qualifier No. 10 Homewood (28-7) vs. NW Qualifier No. 1 Lee Huntsville (26-6)
Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. — South Qualifier No. 5 Carver-Montgomery (26-4) vs. NE Qualifier No. 8 Woodlawn (25-7)
Saturday, 3:00 p.m. — Boys 6A State Championship

First poll: Lee-Huntsville No. 1; Carver-Montgomery No. 2; Woodlawn No. 4; Homewood No. 9
Last year: Carver lost in 6A semifinal to eventual champion Mountain Brook 49-38.

CLASS 7A
Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – Central Qualifier Lee-Montgomery (29-3) vs. NW Qualifier Hoover (25-9)
Thursday, 1:30 p.m. — South Qualifier Theodore (28-4) vs. NE Qualifier Mountain Brook (25-7)
Saturday, 7:00 p.m. — Boys 7A State Championship

First poll: Mountain Brook No. 1; Lee-Montgomery No. 3; Theodore No. 4; Hoover No. 10
Last year: Mountain Brook was the 6A champion with a win over Blount 60-57
