SILVER LAKES — Partners won’t ever talk about themselves when it comes to team golf, and Jeremy McGatha was more than happy to brag on his partner after they brought home another Trick or Treat title Sunday.

Matt Rogers made three clutch birdie putts down the stretch, including a 10-footer on the third Short Course playoff hole, to lift the partners to their third Trick or Treat Two-Man title in the four-year history of the event.

They finished 36 holes of regulation tied with Ott Chandler and Grant Hockman at 16-under 119. Chandler and Hockman played the scamble format on Silver Lakes’ Backbreaker and Heartbreaker 9s in 8-under 64, the day’s best round.

In addition to his winning putt, Rogers made a 15-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole after Chandler hit it inside 12 inches off the tee. And he nearly holed out from the fairway on the final hole of regulation for the win, then tapped in from just behind the hole to force the playoff.

“‘Ice man’ played like a danged champ,” McGatha said. “He held me up today. He’s clutch.

“It was kind of crazy. I always putt last and I putted great yesterday, but today at the end I said I haven’t made them like I did yesterday, let me go and give you the line. I hit decent putts and they didn’t go in and he made them bam, bam, bam.”

Trevor Lane and Caleb Bowen won the first flight (124) by one shot over Lance Evans and Kevin Daugherty. Tyler and Dillon Davis won the second flight with a one-day 67.
