Trick-or-Treat Two-Man

McGatha-Rogers lead event by 1

Jeremy McGatha and Matt Rogers shot 9-under-par 54 and lead by one shot after Saturday’s opening round of the Trick-or-Treat Two-Man at Silver Lakes.

The 18-team field played a scramble on the Mindbreaker 9 and Short Course. It plays a scamble on the Backbreaker and Heartbreaker 9s Sunday.

Ott Chandler and Grant Hockman are second after a 55. Their round was highlighted by Hockman’s hole-in-one on Mindbreaker No. 4. He used a 7-iron on the 170-yard par-3.

Three teams are tied for the lead in the second flight. Lenn Coffey and Chad Watson hold a one-shot lead in the third flight after shooting 65.

The final round is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Sunday, with the leaders expected to tee off at 11:20.

ACE IN THE CROWD: Nathan Griffin scored his second-ever hole-in-one Thursday when he aced the fourth hole at Pine Hill Country Club. Griffin used a 7-iron on the 157-yard par-3. He was playing with Cameron McCareeth.

The ace will now be permanent listed in the East Alabama Sports Today compilation of county holes-in-one.
